Course Outline
Structured for outcomes: 1D on Day 1 for fundamentals and structure methods; 2D on Day 2 for crossings, flow splits and mapping.
Day 1 — 1D Structures
- Geometry setup & steady flow
- Bridges & culverts: energy, pressure & weir methods
- Road overtopping, deck options, loss coefficients
- QA: profiles, EGL/HGL checks, sensitivity
Day 2 — 2D Crossings
- 2D mesh & boundary conditions for crossings
- Flow distribution, head losses, overtopping pathways
- RAS Mapper floodplain maps & deliverables
- Case study & short assessment
Programme Modules
Build depth with focused one‑day workshops. Marked courses are in development and will be submitted for CPD validation in phases.
Terrain merging, spatial results, animations, deliverable‑ready flood maps.
Preparing geometry, cross‑sections, shapefile workflows, exporting flood maps.
Hydrographs, breach modelling, routing, emergency flood mapping.
Storm sewers + overland flow, combined 1D/2D, common pitfalls.
Movable bed, gradation functions, aggradation/degradation, morphology.
DO, nutrients, thermal modelling and CE‑QUAL linkages.

Is the course already CPD accredited?
CPD validation is pending. The validation number will be displayed here once issued. Delegates will receive certificates accordingly.
Do I need prior HEC‑RAS experience?
Basic hydraulics is recommended. Day 1 starts from fundamentals and ramps up quickly with practical exercises.
What software do I need?
Install the latest HEC‑RAS (free) beforehand. For some modules, QGIS is recommended.
